We’ve heard your feedback, and we’re thrilled to announce a major upgrade to our book review scheduling to ensure everyone has a fair chance to complete and review their chosen books!
Many of you have pointed out that a fixed review period for all books—from short stories to epic novels—just isn’t enough, especially for longer reads. In the spirit of promoting quality reviews and supporting authors of all book lengths, we’re moving away from arbitrary deadlines.
Our new system calculates your review time based on the book’s actual length (word count), ensuring longer books get the time they deserve.
The formula is built on the following realistic assumptions about our members:
This means the due date for each book will now be custom-calculated to give you adequate time to read the entire text at a comfortable pace.
What if you still can not finish the book in that time frame?
Your book review will be automatically canceled, but if you finish the review after it’s been canceled, you can reach out to support to allow you to check the book out again and submit your review.
Relief for Reviewers
You can now select a longer book with confidence, knowing your deadline will be calculated to ensure you have time to finish it without rushing or losing comprehension. Conversely, very short books will now have a proportionally shorter review time, helping to speed up the overall review process for those quick reads.
Support for All Authors
This change is a big win for our authors, especially those who publish more expansive works. They can be confident that reviewers have been allocated plenty of time to fully engage with and appreciate the depth of their writing, leading to more thoughtful and complete reviews.
We believe this new policy strikes a perfect balance between encouraging timely reviews and ensuring high-quality, comprehensive feedback on all titles. Happy reading, everyone!
Sincerely,
Benjamin – GBR Owner
