We have two important updates coming up that all members should be aware of.
Amazon has blocked our ability to search for and confirm reviews without logging into an account first. This means that all the books in our network will be tracked back to one of our Amazon accounts used to search for reviews. We want your reviews to be 100% organic which is why we don’t link directly to books from our website. To keep your reviews 100% organic, we’re going to require that reviewers either forward their review confirmation email from Amazon to reviews@getbooksreviewed.com or submit the URL of your review directly to your GBR account. (Speaking of organic reviews, please check out this feature request, which will allow your book to be found by keyword search).
To ensure timely review confirmations for authors, members can have a maximum of four reviews awaiting confirmation at any given time. Once you’ve reached this limit, you can only submit a new review after one or more of your pending reviews are confirmed.
This change will take effect in mid-December, and it will allow our support team to focus more on customer support tickets and on the quality and correctness of the reviews. Right now, we have no way of knowing when your review posts on Amazon, so we have to manually check multiple times for each review to see if it’s live on Amazon. With this new setup, we’ll know for sure your review is ready to be confirmed based on the email you forward to us or the direct link you provide us to your review.
I understand that this new process involves an extra step for our community. However, the time it takes a member to forward an email or, if preferred, copy and paste a URL will produce a 10-fold value for our whole community as it will drastically free up our support staff’s time. This new setup means:
Currently, all reviewers on a paid subscription receive tokens as soon as they submit their review on our website, and then we confirm the review on Amazon after the fact. This setup opens the door for bad actors or new members who are still learning the system to falsely or incorrectly claim that they left a review in the proper format and take tokens for nothing or take tokens for a verified purchase review when, in reality, their review shows up as an unverified review. This often means we have to manually take tokens from the reviewer and refund them to the author, which causes some confusion and breaks the ability of an author to maintain a steady flow of reviews. To ensure the quality, correct format, and consistency of reviews, we’ve introduced a Moderator Review status for subscribers whose submissions don’t meet our procedural guidelines.
This new feature will not affect any members who have been consecutively leaving confirmed reviews in the correct format.
When an offending member is put into the Moderator Review status, token rewards will be paused until after your review has been confirmed, which normally adds 1-3 days to the review process. Once the member’s reviews are consistently being confirmed on Amazon, their account will be restored to full functionality, and they will receive their tokens right after submitting the review as normal.
I appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work together to improve our platform.
